Educational Programs Coordinator

Sub Region: East Africa

Location: Kenya

General function: Mission and purpose of the job


The associate is primarily responsible for technical and educational assistance, and coordination of BD Laboratory Strengthening efforts in Africa with primary focus on Labs for Life, a Public Private Partnership between BD and PEPFAR. 


This will include some field based support for programs including, but not limited to the following countries: Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Mozambique and Ethiopia.

Main Responsibilities

1. Program Support
  • Generally assist with all country specific programs
  • Conduct, assist, or facilitate training needs assessments
  • Provide support in the pre-training phase of the planning of countries’ specific projects
  • Support the team in preparing trainings and workshops
  • Facilitate training
  • Assist with curriculum development, providing feedback, update and direction to the curriculum development team.
  • Conduct site visits for coaching and mentoring to follow up on implementation in the post-training phase
  • Assist in the planning phases of volunteer deployment
  • Supervise deployed BD Pepfar associates volunteers
  • Coordinate all in-country logistic issues during volunteer trips
  • Follow-up on training activities and liaise with in-country Partners
  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with in-country partners and assist them with issues and concerns pertaining to the program
2. Data Management
  • Coordinate data collection and reporting of metrics on key project performance metrics.
  • Maintain database
  • Involve in data analysis and devise corrective actions for poorly performing sites
  • Perform follow up training for poorly performing sites
3. General Support
  • Provide any additional assistance to the BD PEPFAR Core team
  • Periodic travel required
Organization / Supervision
  • The associate will report to the Educational Programs Manager – Africa
Education and qualifications:
  • A Biological Science degree or equivalent. Alternative qualification considered, dependant upon professional experience.
  • Professional skills and experience
  • Preferably one year laboratory or related experience.
  • Experience in coordination and support a plus.
  • Strong interest in global health/public health
